Is there a way to call a function in a contract after some time?

As my first smart contract programming project I am trying to implement a lottery. What I want to call a function to choose winner from the participants every week. I have seen week and month units in solidity, but is there any thing like cron in ethereum?

Yes, cron support will soon be provided by the Loom SDK. Have a look here: https://medium.com/loom-network/loom-sdk-beta-now-open-to-the-public-upcoming-sdk-roadmap-and-token-utility-updates-399ef4e3b831

By end of June:
TransferGateway support for ERC20/ERC721/Ethereum
ERC721 Plasma Cash support
Unity Solidity examples
Cron blockchain support
Token pegging

There is no native solution in Solidity to do something like cronjobs.
Have a look at this project/library: http://ethereum-alarm-clock.com/
