Testing environment for the Dapp on Loomchain with Plasma

How to create an environment for local testing of a project that uses Ethereum and Loomchain at the same time (with transferring tokens between main and Loomchain networks).
Locally, I mean locally isolated - testing with ganache and loom (not on the Rinkeby).
Is it possible to test the assets (erc20 & erc721) transfers use case locally?
If yes, then how to configure gateway?

I got an answer on the Telegram LoomNetwork developer chat:

++Not possible atm. We recommend you use our testnet.++

So, we can not test the full workflow in a local environment only.
Parts of workflow that requires transfers of assets from the main network to the sidechain and backs should be tested on the test net (Rinkeby).
It is a pity, because of that complicate testing process.
Maybe it is possible to create something like "gateway emulator" that will emulate native gateway behaviour (mapping, transfers etc) in the testing environment. If someone heard about one please drop a link here. Thanks.
